Outer Worlds On Switch Delayed Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

The Outer Worlds for Nintendo Switch has been delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The developer of the Switch port, Virtuos, is based in Singapore, with offices across China.

Publisher Private Division, which is owned by Take-Two, announced the delay today on Twitter as part of Take-Two’s latest earnings report. The team at Virtuos is safe and healthy, but the office has been closed, so work has been halted on the project.

Private Division also confirmed that Outer Worlds for Switch will now ship on a physical cartridge and via digitally. Previously, the game was expected to be digital-only, with the physical version of the game containing a download code. Additionally, the first Outer Worlds Switch screenshots seemingly leaked just ahead of this news.

The Outer Worlds for Switch is now expected to launch during Take-Two’s fiscal year 2021. That means the title will launch during the April 1, 2020-March 31, 202 period.

Take-Two’s earnings call begins shortly, so keep checking back with more on The Outer Worlds and Take-Two’s other properties.
