Destiny Servers Are Back Online–Here’s What Went Wrong
By ESR on 31 ianuarie 2020
Update 2: Destiny 2 is back online. A rollback has been performed, so progress loss will be minimal, but the rollback has undone fixes to a few Exotic weapons. The Warlock Exotic Winter’s Guile and the Titan Exotic Wormgod’s Caress both have been disabled, following an exploit that players were using to seriously increase their damage against bosses. Update 2.7.1 was meant to fix the exploits, but apparently Bungie’s fix for issues introduced with the patch means the exploits are still in the game. Bungie says it’ll roll out a future update to fix them, but in the meantime, you won’t be able to use those Exotics.
Due to an issue with the Winter’s Guile and Wormgod Caress exotic gauntlets retaining increased melee damage after their intended timer cooldowns, they have been disabled until a fix can be deployed at a later date.

We’re continuing to work on player account rollbacks and estimate that Destiny 2 will be brought back online at 7 PM Pacific. For more details please see: https://t.co/5a0k5Ysn21 Stay tuned for more updates. https://t.co/PBq4PUcvIi
Bungie previously tweeted it had tested its fix for the problem with Destiny 2‘s latest patch, Update 2.7.1, which caused some players to lose currency and materials. To deal with the issue, Bungie is rolling back player accounts to before the patch to fix accounts.
We have validated a fix for this issue and will be rolling back all player accounts to how they were before Update 2.7.1 went live. Destiny 2 will remain offline for several more hours as we deploy this fix. Another update will be provided by 3 PM Pacific.
Bungie provided more details about the rollback on its website. The gist is that any progress or purchases made between the 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. PT window will need to be redone–and that includes quest progress and Silver purchases:
“We’re continuing work to fix the issue that caused loss of currencies and materials. All player accounts will be rolled back to the state they were in at around 8:30 AM Pacific.
Players may have to redo any progress or quests they completed between 8:30 – 10 AM PST.
Bungie tweeted that it’s aware of the issue and investigating it, but didn’t share much more in the way of information on what’s going on, or when the issue might be fixed (if it can be fixed at all). But it seems like the problem is a big deal, because Bungie has taken Destiny 2 offline for emergency maintenance.
We’re currently investigating an issue where players may have lost their Glimmer and/or various infusion materials after Update 4.7.1 went live. Please standby for updates.
