Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Byleth, Plus New Mii Fighters Revealed And Future Detailed
By ESR on 17 ianuarie 2020
The next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has finally been revealed, and it’s another Nintendo-exclusive character. The fifth and final addition to the first Fighters Pass will by Byleth, the protagonist of 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The 35-minute presentation shared loads of details about Byleth’s playstyle, along with a few surprises like new Mii costumes and even details on the next Fighters Pass.
Byleth Makes A Smashing Debut
Byleth, the hero of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, will join the roster on January 28, 2020. You can choose between male and female Byleth just like in Three Houses, and the Smash Bros. version of the character has access to a wide variety of Heroes Relics as weapons. Her mobility is low, and she’s described as a “distance demon.” You can use the bow for neutral attacks, sword for dash attacks, whip sword for flurry, and axe for down attacks with launch power. Her final smash is Progenitor God Ruptured Heaven, and Sothis joins in. Byleth also has a variety of color variations, based on the three house colors and Sothis.

Byleth will be available for $6 individually, or as part of the $25 Fighters Pass. The pass also includes four already-released fighters: Persona 5’s Joker, Dragon Quest’s Hero, the bear and bird duo Banjo and Kazooie, and Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard. Byleth is the final addition as part of the first Fighters Pass.
Explore the Monastery
Naturally, the new character will come with a new stage as well. For Byleth, that means the Garreg Mach Monastery, the main setting of Three Houses. The stage features a number of familiar sights from the monastery, each populated by members of one of the titular three houses.
The Marketplace is occupied by Blue Lion House, the Reception Hall by Black Eagle House, and the Bridge by Golden Deer House. There’s also a Cathedral setting that houses some non-House members. The locations cycle every few minutes, and there are new Fire Emblem music tracks to accompany the action. A new Spirit Board will also include House leaders and other popular Three Houses characters.
Dress Up Your Mii
Alongside Byleth, a number of new Mii Fighter costumes are coming that pay homage to various other game franchises. The headliner is Cuphead, a new Gunner Mii Costume that changes the look of your Mii completely and includes a new Floral Fury music track. Other costumes include Altair (Swordfighter), Mega Man X and MegaMan.exe (Gunners), and a Rabbids hat.
Each of the new costumes will be available for 75c apiece. They’ll be coming on January 28 too.
The second Fighters Pass will include six characters (instead of five) and cost $30, up from $25. That’s still a savings, as individual fighters are priced at $6 apiece. Purchasing the pass gets you a bonus Mii Swordfighter outfit, modeled after the Ancient Soldier outfit from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Though none of the fighters have been revealed yet, Sakurai said that all of the spots have been determined, so sending him requests won’t work. Sorry, save those Waluigi petitions. All six of the new characters will be released by December 31, 2021.
