The Witcher 3 Mod That Puts Henry Cavill’s Face On Geralt Is Pretty Great
By ESR on 10 ianuarie 2020
The release of Netflix’s The Witcher series coincides with (and possibly inspired) a (massive) uptick in Steam users downloading and playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to replay GameSpot’s 2015 Game of the Year. And why stop there when there are mods that can transform Geralt’s beautifully scarred face into the chiseled cheeks of Henry Cavill?
You can watch our exploits as Henry Cavill-looking Geralt in the video below. There are several mods out there that can achieve this cosmetic look if you want to do this yourself, but if you specifically want to use the one we tried, it’s Shadowphonic’s Game Lore Henry Cavill Retexture. For even greater detail, PC Gamer has a full-fledged guide for using multiple mods on top of the one made by Shadowphonic to also give Geralt the same hairstyle, sword, and armor seen in the Netflix series.
Now Playing: The Best Henry Cavill Witcher 3 Face Mod Yet?
In our own playthrough as Cavill-Geralt, we travel through the beautiful landscape of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. After making sure our face looks just right in a cutscene and go converse with NPCs to see how well the mod holds up when Geralt has to speak.
If you haven’t yet played it, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a really good game–one of the few titles that GameSpot has awarded a 10/10 review score to. In GameSpot’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt review, Kevin VanOrd wrote, “Make no mistake: this is one of the best role-playing games ever crafted, a titan among giants and the standard-setter for all such games going forward. Where the Witcher 2 sputtered to a halt, The Witcher 3 is always in a crescendo, crafting battle scenarios that constantly one-up the last, until you reach the explosive finale and recover in the glow of the game’s quiet denouement. But while the grand clashes are captivating, it is the moments between conflicts, when you drink with the local clans and bask in a trobairitz’s song, that are truly inspiring.”
